Do you miss the magazine?
September 23, 2011

It’s been 3 years since we stopped publication of the Home Companion magazine and not a day goes by– LITERALLY NOT A DAY GOES BY– that we don’t get 6, 7 or sometimes even 20 letters and emails asking that we publish it again. So we’re going to give it another shot, but we need your help. It’s still a very risky business to put a magazine out in these tough economic times, so to convince a publisher and advertisers that this would indeed be a worthy endeavor, we need you to write in and tell us why you’d like to subscribe to the magazine again.  A petition, if you will.  Because if we can show that a gajillion people want the Home Companion, need the Home Companion, will BUY the Home Companion– we will have a better chance of success.

So tell us what the magazine meant to you, or if you’re short on time, just write in and say “Count me in!”  The more names, the merrier!  Barbara , Kathy, and I are all ready to dive back in if you are.

~Mary

    I still have all my back issues. Every so often (usually on a rainy day or when I just need a lift)I sit down and thumb through them. They never fail to uplift, inspire and cheer. I’ve subscribed to a lot of magazines over the years but this is the one I’ve missed the most.

    My husband knew I would only be thinking of one thing on the evening the magazine arrived. He could talk but I would not be focusing on anything but reading every page one at a time…trying to make the suspense last as long as possible. I would read it over and over until the next issue arrived. Please send more!

    Please Please, bring the Home Companion Magazine back. It was my all-time favorite magazine. I was dumbfounded when I went to the book store to buy my monthly copy and found out that that there was none. I still have all of my old copies and STILL read them every once in awhile. If you publish again, please include the cool paperdolls. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the revival of a great magazine!!! Good Luck!!!!

    Lots of magazines look the same on the newsstand. But when you had you artwork on the covers it was so eye catching and would draw you in to look at them. I have all but the first two issues in my Mary Engelbreit room. A room I dedicated to your art and style when one of our sons moved out. Loved your magazine features on artists and decorating in your cheerful style with simple, meaningful treasures. Bring it back, please.

  16. I ADORED that magazine AND it was the best publication on the planet! No joke….I’ve NEVER loved a magazine more! It had EVERYTHING and I almost died when they ceased publication! Actually I did die a little inside that day….(0;

    I really miss my “ME MAG”! Ending it’s publication was quite a heartbreaking moment in my life and it rendered me with one less very nice, wholesome resource to create lovely warm memories with my daughters in this “fast-paced-get-it-now-already-put-together-read-it-on-your own-driven” cold world in which we live.
    It’s time has come to be beautifully resurrected in order to bring back simple,sassy,inspirational and delightful sweetness to aching families everywhere.
    The sooner the better.(Without an overly abundant plethora of advertisements,Please.) And…don’t forget to include the Paper Dolls-they are crucially important too!
    Many of us are looking forward to this Home Companion Magazine’s imminent release date with great enthusiasm, pens, and subscription checks ready. We place our trust in your determination and committment to not disappoint such a large group of women.
    Thank You for your haste in getting this publication published and marketed as soon as humanly possible!
